Mini?s new Clubman, the ?two and half door? wagon will be arriving in Australia next month sporting a entry level price tag of $34,400.

The Clubman certainly seems to polarize opinion with some thinking it is cool and others quite hideous. It has universally been the recipient of concern over the rear half door that in right-hand-drive countries sees the kids trying to get into the back seat from the road, rather than the safety of the footpath.

Despite the look and the location of the rear door, expect the added practicality of the Mini Clubman to prove popular in Australia.

The entry level Clubman features an 88Kw 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine and comes in two variants, the Cooper ($34,400) and the Chilli ($38,200). The range topping Cooper S Clubman is powered by 1.6-litre turbocharged 128Kw four-cylinder and prices begin at $43,200 for the standard Cooper S Clubman and up to $47,000 for the more highly specced Chilli variant.

There will be two six-speed cog swappers available, a manual as standard or the option of an automatic transmission with steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters.
