Having recently reported that an MPS version of the new Mazda6 was unlikely, news has hit the net suggesting that not all hope is lost. While details are thin on the ground, two images of a tough looking Mazda6 have surfaced.
The images are said to be the Atenza Mazdaspeed Concept that is due to be debuted at the 2008 Tokyo Auto Salon. Kitted out with revised front and rear bumpers, unique side skirts with a diffuser that carries through to the front bumper, a lowered ride height and 18-inch alloys it is a stunning car.
There is some speculation that while the U.S. Mazda6 may not be getting the MPS special treatment the slightly smaller version of the Mazda6 sold in markets such as Europe and Australia may.
So, is this the new Mazda6 MPS, or just a clothes horse for dealer fitted accessories? An update will follow when more becomes known.
