Holden VE Ute - the next Chevy El Camino? Photo:

Will the new VE Ute become the next Chevy El Camino? Apparently not, according to the chaps over at GM Inside News. They appear to have the ear of one Bob Lutz and the cigar chomping, jet flying boss of all things GM said that there will be no Chevrolet version of the VE Ute.

GM Inside News forum member ?MonaroSS? actually emailed his photo chop of the VE Ute featuring the bow-tie badge to Bob and said that he hopes the new Ute gets a more Chevy look if it goes Stateside. Big Bob took time out of his hectic schedule to respond with;

"Well, that's what we want to do, but it won't be a Chevrolet!"

So, it looks like the VE Ute could be the next Holden export success but exactly what it will be badged is anyone?s guess. VE Commodores will be joining the Pontiac line-up in the near future so maybe a Pontiac badged premium sports Ute? Maybe not?
