Fiat Australia have just announced that the order book for the new Fiat 500 is now open, despite pricing not being finalized or confirmed?yet. The baby Fiat has an enviable sales record in Europe with the initial allocation being sold out in a matter of weeks and including an additional build run of 20,000 units.
As a result, Fiat are encouraging would be owners to make their intentions known as soon as possible with Australia expected to receive a limited and strictly fixed initial supply.
The Fiat 500 comes with a raft of options to allow cars to be tailored to individual specifications, much like the Mini. Fiat Australia are hoping that opening the order book early will see the first run of cars for Australia and New Zealand (due to go down the line early in the new year) built to specific customers requirements, rather than what Fiat think their customers will like.
What are these options we hear you ask?
For starters, Fiat Australia are taking the full European range which includes a 1.2-litre four-cylinder with 51 kW a 1.4-litre four-cylinder 16V with73.5 kW and the 1.3-litre JTD Turbo Diesel with 55 kW. Gearbox choices are initially limited to the manual, with Dualogic following soon after.

There is even a Ferrari F1 style decal kit for the 500 owner with a good sense of humour?
Fiat dealers are able to provide indicative pricing for the 500 and the various options with final pricing expected to be finalized towards the end of November.
If you?re in the market for a Fiat 500 it would probably be a good time to get in touch with your dealer before the order books are full.
