Porsche Panamera, Volkswagen Passat coupe, Honda FCX, BMW CS?. With low slung sporty four-door coupes seemingly being the next big thing in prestige auto manufacture, German aftermarket tuning shop A.R.T has taken the wraps off their new tuned Mercedes CLS, the GTR 374.
Inspired by the DTM European touring car series, the already dead sexy CLS has been pumped full of steroids by the folks at A.R.T. The side skirts along with the front and rear guards have been given the buff treatment, being widened 70mm and 80mm respectively. All 4 doors have been modified to suit.
The front bumper looks like it has been lifted from a touring car and matches the rears bumpers race-car like diffuser. Look hard and you?ll also see the subtle spoiler treatment on the bootlid, a look that the Germans have made famous. All of this Bavarian beefcake sits on ?Satin Black? 3 piece 20? wheels made in-house by A.R.T.
A new body calls for more than just the standard motor and A.R.T. have fitted an AK35 supercharger to the standard 3.5-litre V6. The ECU has been modified, including the removal of the 250km/h governor and a full stainless-steel exhaust system has been fitted.
Power is up to 279kW while torque climbs to a V8-like 510Nm. Handy figures for a V6 but not likely to put the wind up too many of the tuned V8 and V12 Mercedes produced by the likes of AMG or Brabus.
