Any more acronyms in that post title, and I reckon there's a record in it.

Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) has taken a step into the future, relying solely on the virtues of computer animation to promote its new FG Falcon-based performance range on television. Could it also be a clever attempt at skirting the rules when it comes to depicting reckless driving in televised advertisements?

FPV says the use of CGI has allowed the company to explore new dimensions in the way an automotive commercial could be approached, using an open desert-like scene with no roads and plenty of space?a scenario difficult to arrange in the real world without confronting various hurdles.

The vehicles shown in the commercial, which range from the Territory through to the sedans and utes, were all built in CGI directly from the CAD (Computer Aided Drawing) data used in the development of the real vehicles themselves.

The commercial, produced by Magnum Opus and CGI team Airbag Productions, will premier on pay TV this Sunday the 6th of July on Fox Sports, Sky News, Fox Sports News, Discovery, and the History Channel, and will be followed by free-to-air coverage during the Seven Network's coverage of the V8 Supercar series.
