FortuneSport has announced that the first vehicle to wear its badge and enter production will be the Rt.S mid-engined coupe. With 261kW and 529Nm emanating from the flywheel of its 6-litre V8 the Rt.S should have no problems shifting its scant 816kg aluminium chassis, and at a price of just $85,000 USD the American-made coupe should be one of the cheapest supercars around.
However for all you power-hungry and fat-walleted types, FortuneSport should soon have an even faster and even more exclusive version available, the Rt.R - a car that's so bespoke, FortuneSport require you to fly out to their headquarters in Atlanta so they can tailor the integrally-moulded seat to your body shape.
Whereas the Rt.S is modestly priced at $85k, FortuneSport request a $200,000 USD deposit before they'll begin the construction process for an Rt.R. Built by the Panoz Group, each of the limited run of 60 Rt.R's will get a 380kW and 651Nm 6-litre V8 mounted amidships, while weight will be just 748kg. Performance will be astonishingly quick, with 0-96kph being seen off in just three seconds while top speed is estimated to be around the 314kph mark. Unfortunately, no amount of speed will be able to stop the Rt.R and Rt.S from looking like the bastard lovechild of an Audi TT and a Bugatti Veyron, as the above rendering suggests it will. But hey, looks ain't everything, right?
Once construction is complete and a $100,000 balance is paid, FortuneSport then release the completed vehicle to the client, however in a peculiar arrangement the Rt.R doesn't formally become the property of the customer even after delivery.
Instead, they merely drive it (enthusiastically of course, and preferably at racetracks) while FortuneSport collect data from their cars to be used in the development of the road-friendly Rt.S. After development time is over (which FortuneSport estimates will be anywhere between three and five years), the customer can either keep the car and surrender their $200,000 deposit, or hand their Rt.R back to FortuneSport and have that money refunded. Odd.
I commend FortuneSport on their drive to build a truly affordable supercar, I really do, but there's just something about the whole operation that doesn't bode well. There's a whole range of conflicting information on both the Rt.S and Rt.R on FortuneSport's site and in their press releases and it gives the appearance that the head honchos at their Atlanta HQ are a little less than organised. For example, their most recent press release says the Rt.S will be released in 2010 as a 2011 model, but if the development program for that car (using the Rt.R) isn't due to finish for at least three years, then that means the Rt.S would arrive in 2011 at the earliest. Not only that, but it's still not readily apparent whether the Rt.R is available yet, or even whether Panoz are tooled up to begin production of these cars.
Even more perplexing is this statement found on the FortuneSport website: "While FortuneSport will need to seek investment to further its technical and marketing abilities, all investment related activities have been
postponed until after the introduction of the Rt.S... Investment activities will resume 6 October 2008."
So does that mean the Rt.S is coming in 2010, 2011 or in three month's time?! We'll see in due course, but I have a sneaking suspicion that one's breath should not be held...
23 July 2008 ? Gwinnett County, Georgia. The first vehicle to be launched under the FortuneSport banner will be the Rt.S, a sub-2,000 pound, 350 horsepower sports coupe.
Inspired by Group C prototypes, the chassis of this road and track car will feature an aluminum semi-
monocoque with a mid-mounted V8 and a pushrod suspension. Key weight-saving features are full
composite bodywork, seats integrated into the chassis, and rolling gear supplied by BBS. The power to
weight ratio of 5.1 lbs per bhp translates into a road car capable of a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4 seconds and a top speed of 175mph. The target price is $85,000.

sixteen speaker stereo systems, but in the driving itself. Especially given the green movement, the best way to engage the driver was to reduce vehicle mass.?
Penned by Turkish newcomer Emre Husmen, the Rt.S is a vision of sports cars in the year 2035.
Characterized by short overhangs and a long wheelbase, the overall length of the car is 164 inches. Clever packaging means the height of the vehicle is 42 inches, while retaining enough head room to comfortably fit a 6-foot 4-inch passenger.
The Rt.S is scheduled for a launch in Late 2010 as a 2011 model. Development of a track version, the Rt.R will be launched late this fall. Visually similar to the Rt.S, the Rt.R will feature a 510bhp engine and a curb weight of 1,650 pounds. To be assembled by the Panoz Group, the Rt.R will be capable of running in a number of amateur track events, as well as FortuneSport-branded events held in conjunction with the Skip Barber Racing Schools. The Rt.R requires a security deposit of $200,000.
