BrawnGP boss Ross Brawn says Jenson Button is capable of carrying his form to the end of the season and winning the World Championship.
Button?s career appeared to be in serious doubt in December, with Honda?s withdrawal from Formula One leaving him without a drive and potentially finished as a force in the sport.
However, Brawn?s last minute purchase of the team handed Button a lifeline and provided him with a platform to contend for the title many expected he was capable of winning after his debut season with the then BMW-powered Williams outfit in 2000.
?I've got no doubts about Jenson's ability to win. The way he is driving, that part is taken care of,? Brawn said.
?It's up to us to produce the performance in the car, do the pitstops, the strategies and make sure the car is reliable.?
The car BrawnGP raced in Bahrain was nearly identical to the machine which competed in Albert Park, while the team?s rivals shipped over a number of aero updates to claw back the deficit to the F1 frontrunners.
However, the BGP 001?s development will not stagnate for much longer - with Chief Executive Officer Nick Fry revealing workers at Brawn?s base in Brackley have prepared updates for the Barcelona round of the championship.
?I think our team has got all the resources,? Fry said.
?We have got a reasonable upgrade package for Barcelona. Whether it will be as big as some others, we don't know.
"Do we have the resources to develop for the rest of the year? Yes, we do.?
