Anyone paying attention to the news seeping from the set of the upcoming Transformers sequel will already know that Chevrolet's Volt plug-in hybrid has scored a role in the film.

Until now, we've only had poor quality spy shots and eye-witness accounts to go on, but GM has thrown all of that out the window with the release of official images showing its 'hybrid in disguise'.

Imaginatively named 'Jolt', Chevy's 2011 Volt will play alongside a host of other GM products in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen on the side of the good guys, the Autobots.

From what we can spot in these images, the only real differences between the production Volt and its movie counterpart are some silver mirrors, different window trim and, seemingly, a different tyre and wheel package. Most will likely spot that the new rims are in fact wheel dressings only, the side profile shot is a clear giveaway.

Jolt will be on display at the GM stand at this year’s Chicago Show, which kicks off on Friday the 13th. The all-new Corvette Stingray concept, which plays the character Sideswipe in the movie, is also expected to grace the stand.

GM reportedly has a few more models in the movie but we won't spoil the party just yet (though you can find a roll call online pretty easily).

June 26 is the date to mark on your calendar, guys and girls, because that's when the new Transformers film will hit the big screen. For now, check out the trailer below.
