At 12:01am this morning Andrew Richmond took delivery of his White Ivory Pearl Premium GT-R - the first to be officially sold by Nissan in Australia - at Ferntree Gully Nissan by special arrangement.

We're betting he's still wide awake and grinning like a madman (and chances are, if he's given it a stab, he may have already had a change of underpants).

Richmond is no stranger to the GT-R scene:

“This will be my second Nissan GT-R. I have been a huge fan of the GT-R since getting involved in club level motorsports. I chose a Nissan R34 GT-R V Spec as my motorsports vehicle and have loved GT-R’s since.”

Australian-delivered R35s will only be available from 11 specially-selected Nissan dealerships.

Dealers will set aside special bays, carry nitrogen for the tyres and in some cases have modified access ramps to protect the GT-R's aerodynamic components.

If you're interested in purchasing Nissan's finest, then you'll need to be within striking-distance of the following locations:

  • NSW: Campbelltown and Brookvale
  • VIC: Ferntree Gully,  Werribe
  • SA: Nailsworth
  • QLD: Moorooka, Southport, Mackay
  • TAS: Hobart
  • WA: Melville, Wangara

It doesn't stop there either, with dealerships also offering a bespoke service program that comprises three separate elements.

The first is a special vehicle inspection after 2,000km (and annually thereafter) which Nissan will provide to GT-R owners at no charge for the first three years of the car’s life. This inspection service will comprise a check and adjustment to the wheel alignment, a check of the engine tune as well as transmission and clutch settings.

Regular servicing occurs at 10,000km or at six-month intervals (whichever comes first), and comprises the usual engine oil and filter changes and fluid checks.

Finally, for customers who take the opportunity to 'enjoy' their cars at track days, Nissan GT-R dealers will be able to offer a post track day inspection service,  which looks at suspension geometry, vital brake components and lubricant and fluid checks.

Like the regular service, owners will have to pony up the cost of the post-track inspection.

Precision machines require specialist care and it looks like Nissan has got all the bases covered. With countless more buyers set to follow in Andrew Richmond's footsteps, the GT-R is looking a lot like 'the next big thing'.
