Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Australia has this week issued a recall for its Fiat Freemont SUV, due to a sticky situation…

Seems Freemonts from model-years 2012 through to 2015 are carrying the wrong tyre placard (sticker), which states the incorrect specifications for the Freemont’s spare wheel.

If wearing the incorrect sticker, the Freemont does not comply with “Australian Design Rule 42/04 - General Safety Requirement”.

Further, should a Freemont owner use a spare wheel other than that supplied by Fiat guided by the incorrect specifications on the placard, the vehicle may be considered un-roadworthy and could pose a hazard to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

Freemonts built between December 2012 and July 2015 are included in the recall, with 4221 units targeted in Australia.

The recall process will see Fiat replace the incorrect tyre placard by means of an overlay.

Any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local Fiat dealer.
