The Fiat 500 is proving to be a huge sales success around the world, and Australia is no exception with the 500 being sold out for the next four months. Despite demand running well ahead of supply, Fiat have announced a new addition to the 500 model range in Australia, the Fiat 500 1.3 JTD Lounge.
The Fiat 500 1.3 JTD Lounge combines market-leading fuel economy of just 4.2 L/100km with a top level trim and equipment package to produce a unique combination of luxury, economy and chic style.
?The launch of this car in Australia is a clear sign of marked change in the market?s attitude to diesel. Diesel is no longer associated just with basic, economy motoring. Australian customers increasingly want the economy and environmental ability of diesel matched to a chic, luxurious car and cars don?t come much more stylish and chic than the 500 or, with the top of the line Lounge equipment package, luxurious. This new model is a response to demands from Australian customers for a range-topping specification 500 with the advanced Turbo Diesel engine,? says Edward Butler, General Manager for Fiat cars in Australia.
At launch the Fiat 500 equipped with Fiat?s advanced 1.3 Multijet Turbo Diesel came with the ?Pop? equipment package, a basic package that includes air conditioning, trip computer, electric front windows, remote central locking, ABS brakes and six airbags.
In addition to the features found in the ?Pop? pack, the ?Lounge? pack adds the following:
? climate control airconditioning
? fixed glass roof with a sun blind
? chrome exterior trim pack
? alloy wheels
? front fog lights
? Blue&Me voice-activated Bluetooth package with steering mounted controls
? leather steering wheel and gearknob
? luxury cloth interior with the option of a leather trimmed interior if desired
? electronic stability control (ESC)
? hill holder
? HBA and traction control
Fitted with the 1.3 JTD engine, the Fiat 500 has a top speed of 165km/h and accelerates from 0 - 100km/h in 12.5 seconds. Fuel consumption is extraordinary, with 5.3 L/100km being achieved in the urban cycle, 3.6 L/100km highway and a combined cycle of 4.2 L/100km. CO2 emissions are among the lowest on the market at just 111 g/km.
The four cylinder diesel features a Borg-Warner fixed geometry turbo with a waste-gate and an intercooler and delivers a maximum of 55 kW at 4000 rpm and 145Nm of torque at 1500 rpm.
The new Fiat 500 JTD Lounge has a recommended retail price of $28,990 and is available to order now.
