It looks like Ferrari has been busted on a day out and about with what appears to be a special new Ferrari 599 prototype.
World Car Fans is running a series of images showing the bright yellow Fezza bearing all (which is fine, it's nothing we haven't seen), with the stand-out feature on this mule being the repositioned exhaust pipes.
It's a big deal when you remember that the license shredding Ferrari 599XX has a similarly setup rear end.
While this particular test mule lacks the abundant aero of the 599XX, it apparently made a noise that, according to the people behind the snaps, raised their neck hairs. Delicious.
Ferrari, then, could be testing the running gear for a production version of the track specific 599XX or readying a 599 Scuderia.
The former of the two was packing peak power of 515kW (700hp) when it hit the stand at Geneva, which could account for the noise.
However, a 599 Scuderia would likely receive an upgraded exhaust which could also account for the aural delights.
We'll be sure to update you with any further information as it comes to light so stay tuned Ferrari lovers.
