Certain thieves in the US city of Los Angeles might think they've won big, but they couldn't be further from the truth.

One of the Nissan R34 Skyline GT-R replicas driven by Paul Walker in the most recent instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise has been stolen from a warehouse in California, the thieves also damaging a classic Studebaker and a Porsche Boxster in the process.

With an estimated value of US$75,000 (you can buy a R34 GT-R for that kind of money), the Skyline - essentially a modified GT-T, one very big step below the GT-R - was uninsured because of its post-film use as a promotional car.

Still, despite the loss to the studio, the ultimate joke is on the crooks. When they roll into the run-down warehouse their insane overlord has rented for the mission of "stealing 60 desirable cars before morning", they'll be floating in the bay when the boss-man discovers it's not a genuine GT-R…
