TOYOTA IS REPORTEDLY prepared to sell the designs to its planned 2010 Formula 1 challenger after announcing its decision to quit the sport earlier in the month.

Despite the ongoing doubt over the team’s future throughout 2009, Toyota’s Cologne-based motorsport centre had completed its pre-season design and engineering work on next year's TF110.

With four new teams arriving in the paddock next season, French outlet La Parisien revealed Toyota is considering the prospect of selling its car to one of the sport’s newcomers.

The teams expected to consider purchasing Toyota’s blueprints include Manor and USF1, which are believed to be the least advanced of the outfits looking to make the grid for round one in Bahrain next year.

Of the remaining new arrivals, the Malaysian-backed Lotus F1 Team is working alongside aerodynamic engineering company Aerolab, which has previously worked with Renault and Toyota.

Lotus has also signed its first driver, although his identity remains a mystery, following an announcement by team principal Tony Fernandes on his twitter page.

“One Malaysia Formula One Team aka Lotus has signed its first driver. Public announcement soon. The dream continues,” he wrote.

Campos Meta F1 meanwhile, appear the most prepared of all F1’s debutants, with the team’s Dallara chassis having undergone a series of FIA crash tests, while driver Bruno Senna recently completed a seat fitting at the company’s factory.

Team engineer Toni Cuquerella, who is overseeing Dallara’s work, praised the Italian manufacturer’s efforts in developing a chassis quickly.

“The project is really advanced and we have already passed all the internal tests of homologation,” he told Autosport.

“Dallara has been working extraordinarily hard for months and we are really happy with the results up to now.

“Thanks to the current advanced development of the car and the data provided by Dallara, we have been able to carry out the first simulations in almost all the circuits that will organise a Formula 1 grand prix in 2010.”
