FERRARI PRESIDENT Luca di Montezemolo has refused to quash speculation his team has secured the signature of Fernando Alonso for next season.

Alonso has long been rumoured to have signed a contract with Ferrari, with speculation indicating a deal was forged as early as last year.

And with Ferrari recently welcoming Alonso?s personal sponsor Santander on board as the team?s new major backer, it was believed the deal would be a precursor to the two-time World Champion?s eventual arrival.

Di Montezemolo added weight to rumours at the Italian Grand Prix overnight when he rejected the opportunity to dismiss claims Alonso would arrive to partner Felipe Massa in 2010.

?I never like to talk on the driver side. Whenever we take some decision we will inform you in the proper way at the right moment,? he said.

?Every year it is the same. We have two drivers, now three (Giancarlo Fisichella), plus also we are close to having Michael so we have a lot of drivers ? this is not a problem for us now.?

Meanwhile, di Montezemolo said he is completely convinced Massa will be physically and mentally prepared to make his comeback at the opening round of next season.

However, he admitted the Brazilian?s stunning recovery from serious head injuries he sustained in Hungary is on the verge of miraculous.

?To be honest, yes (it is a miraculous recovery). But having said that, when I have seen him twice in hospital in Budapest I was confident for this,? he said.

?I spoke with him half an hour ago. He is back at home after the operation, which was basically plastic surgery. And I think that maybe in one week's time he can start his personal training, although he is training a lot with video games.

?We are lucky and he is lucky because he does not remember anything of the accident, so he will be very motivated. I am sure he will be quicker than before.?
