FOR FANS OF racing simulators, the platform of choice is very rarely Nintendo’s Wii.

Game developer, Codemasters, is looking to change that with a new release for that platform, F1 2009. For the first time Formula One management has extended license agreements beyond Sony’s reach allowing the Wii to become the first games console to benefit.

F1 2009 will be released later this year for the Wii and Sony’s PSP. A more detailed version of the game titled F1 2010 is set for release next year for the xBox, Playstation 3 and Windows PC formats.

The Wii version of the game will also be shipped with a Race Wheel accessory, similar to the wheel supplied with Mario Kart, but styled to look a little closer to the real thing.

In the lead-up to the game’s release, Codemasters have released in-game footage of the cars lapping the Valencia circuit. F1 2009 will also include, for the first time in any racing simulation, Singapore’s night race.

All current drivers, teams and circuits will featured in the game.
