REPORTS OF A more affordable entry-level Porsche have surfaced a few times this year, suggesting Porsche is considering a Speedster version of Volkswagen’s Bluesport concept.

No official word has been given that a new VW/Porsche developed model is on the way, but our new speculative rendering offers a glimpse at how a new sub-Boxster Porsche might look, if such a project is underway.

Utilising the Bluesport platform (above), the Porsche Speedster would likely be powered by either Volkswagen's 126kW 1.4 litre turbo and supercharged petrol engine or its 95kW four-cylinder turbodiesel.

The output might not be huge, but the Speedster concept would likely weigh in at around 1000kg, giving the likes of the Lotus Elise a new challenger.

Speaking with German magazine Automobilwoche recently, Porsche development head Wolfgang Duerheimer said that offering a significantly cheaper model is now a top priority for the German carmaker.

With the world’s second biggest carmaker expected to increase its upcoming stake in Porsche from 42 percent to 49.9 percent, a new collaborative project seems even more likely.
