Edo Competition are hitting the news headlines again, this time with a record speed run in their lightly warmed over Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640 Versione Nardo. Taking its name from the Nardo high speed test track where the record was set, the Edo Competition Lambo joined a bunch of exotic tuner machinery for the annual high speed run at the Nardo track. It’s important to know who is the quickest...
With three laps of the track available to each competitor, including a warm-up lap and a cool down lap, there is only one shot at attaining the top speed for each machine. This year saw the Edo Competition Lambo hit 345.7km/h (214.8mph) on its fast lap and while its not going to trouble the Veyron it is the highest recorded top speed for any Lamborghini, ever.
The Edo Lambo was fitted with a rear wing and engine power was increased to 494kW/663hp with the aid of a reprogrammed ECU, high-flow air filters and a high performance catalytic converter.
Edo are not going to let a sleeping dog lie either, with a return trip to Nardo planned for next year’s event. This time around, the Edo Lambo will likely be packing some 520kw/700hp with a targeted top speed of 360kmh/224mph.
