JOINING THE EXISTING CD diesel, Holden is set to add a diesel option to the higher-specced CDX Cruze early next year.

Available with manual and automatic transmissions, the Cruze CDX diesel will join the range in response to positive feedback and customer demand, according to Holden's Executive Director of Sales and Marketing, John Elsworth.

“Diesel is proving a popular alternative so it made sense to introduce a new model that offers the best of both worlds," Mr Elsworth said.

“The high level of features offered on the CDX combined with the performance and fuel efficiency of the diesel makes it a smart choice.

“We’ve been listening to what our customers have been asking for and this is our response.”

Fuel economy for the Cruze CDX diesel is listed as 5.7 l/100km when fitted with the five-speed manual transmission, and 6.9 l/100km with the six-speed automatic transmission.

The CDX diesel's features list will mirror the CDX petrol model, getting Electronic Stability Control, Anti-lock Brakes, six airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels and cruise control.

A leather steering wheel and leather-appointed seats - with heated front seats - along with rear parking sensors and steering-mounted controls for audio and cruise control figure among the CDX diesel's standard features.

Pricing

Recommended retail pricing for the Cruze CDX Diesel is $27,990 for the manual model, and $29,990 for the automatic model.

The Cruze CDX Diesel will be available in early 2010, though no official launch date has been set.
