Pininfarina have confirmed that they will be using a Rolls Royce Drophead Coupe as the basis for their latest bespoke creation.

Named Hyperion, the custom-built convertible will be the Italian firm's third such project for a private client, with the other two being James Glickenhaus's Enzo-based P4/5 and Peter Kalikow's Ferrari 612 "K". Pininfarina have declined to name their newest customer, however one thing's for sure: whoever they are, they've got a bag of money and a highly developed sense of style. The development sketch released by Pininfarina (above) showcases a profile that is as attractive as it is timeless. A good thing, then, considering Pininfarina's intent to make the Hyperion "an homage to the great pre-war Rolls-Royce cars".

We can expect to see the finished product at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August, but for now Pininfarina is remaining quiet on how much they're charging their mystery client for the coachbuilt Rolls. Considering it cost Glickenhaus USD $3 million to have Pininfarina build the P4/5, you can expect the bill for the Drophead Coupe to be a lot more than your average respray.
