Citroen C4 Hatch And Sedan Debuts in China

Along with the Porsche Panamera and a bagful of local Chinese models, the Shanghai International Motor Show has played host to the world premiere of the Citroen C4 Sedan.

The C4 hatch was also unveiled, which is a first for China, but not for us Aussies. The new Citroen C5 was also on hand and is set to start production in China this year.

The Chinese will know the C4 as the C-Quatre, the hatch version of which will receive the same revisions to the interior and front end as seen on our local variant.

Substantial changes can be seen out back on the C-Quatre sedan including new tailights, new rear guards, a new boot and a new bumper bar.

Starting production in Wuhan later on in the year, the Citroen C5 will go on sale in early 2010 and will allow Citroen to cover 70 percent of the Chinese market.

Joining the C4 and C5 on the stand is a handful of Citroen's more famous vehicles, including the WRC winning Citroen C4 driven by Sebastian Loeb and the GTbyCitroen concept car.

While all this is going on, Citroen is also rolling out its new corporate identity to its 217 dealers. Some 3100 people are employed by Citroen across 230 cities, which includes 12 technical training schools and two sales training schools.

At this stage there's no word on when we'll be seeing the C4 sedan in Australia, but stay tuned for further updates.
