While the rest of the world's automotive markets continue to struggle under the oppressive weight of a global economy in tatters, China's market has bucked the trend.

After experiencing a decline in sales in four of the last five months, China staged an impressive comeback through February and posted a 24.2 percent increase.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers noted that passenger car sales jumped to 607,300 during the month of February, while total sales rose to 827,600 units.

This marks the first time the Chinese market has broken through the 800,000 sales barrier since mid-2008.

Although it's unlikely that figures in March will be as impressive, it's nonetheless good news for an industry that is desperately short of it at the moment.
