Remember the Maserati Bellagio Fastback Touring from last week? Well, word about town is that the company responsible for the aforementioned Quattroporte wagon is set to wave their magic wand over a Ferrari, with the most likely candidate being the 612 Scaglietti.

Carrozerria Touring Superleggera are allegedly planning to unleash some of their coachbuilding expertise upon the 612 not just because it's a powerful, exclusive and highly desirable base platform, but also because it's one of the few models that Ferrari will allow to be modified. The 599? It's too new. The 430 Scuderia? To even consider tweaking one is sacrilege. Yep, Ferrari is a little bit precious about preserving its image these days, but judging from Carrozzeria's past work they've got nothing to worry about.

The Bellagio Fastback, while divisive, was rather fetching and the craftsmanship was top-notch. The A8GCS Berlinetta (another Maserati-based custom) was just as pretty and a testament to Carrozerria's design and fabrication expertise.

Unfortunately, little is known at this stage about what exactly will be done to Carrozerria's Ferrari. Bodywork is a given, but will they see fit to mess around with the Scag's greasy innards? We'll have to wait and see, but I've got my fingers and toes crossed that they'll be bringing a modern interpretation of the legendary 250GT SWB "Breadvan" (below) to the unveiling. Here's hoping.
