If you've managed to steer clear of the hugely popular farming, restaurant and ganglord games on Facebook, there's a new title you might find a little tougher to avoid: Car Town.

While the formula remains unchanged - build up your credits by serving customers, trading items and challenging friends to battles - Car Town offers car enthusiasts a new way to enter the growing world of games on Facebook.

With a focus on collecting and customising toy-like versions of real-world cars - from the humble Toyota Yaris to the menacing Lamborghini LP 670-4 SuperVeloce - Car Town brings the beloved Sims-style gaming to the car world; albeit in an arcadey, 'dumbed down' fashion.

While there are ample opportunities to challenge your Facebook friends to a race, Car Town is more about collecting - but it's through those challenges, and keeping your shop running at a profit, that gets you that bigger garage of desirable rides.

Each car can be modified extensively - and we do mean extensively - with a range of body kits, wheels, paint schemes and graphics to choose from. Bling or race, the options are nearly endless, and undoubtedly will grow over time.

With editable cars, avatars and garage layouts, publisher Cie Games has brought all the usual Sims-like tricks to bear, and while there isn't necessarily anything new here, Car Town offers a highly-polished taken on a favourite genre.

Car Town fills an obvious void in the realm of Facebook games, and car-tuning enthusiasts will no doubt be pleased to see not only a wide-ranging selection of real-world cars, but also a wealth of real brands in the wheel shop, including track favourites Volk and HRE.
