After suffering heavy financial loses and closing the doors way back in 1992, Brabham Racing is back after nearly sixteen years of inactivity. Germany's Essen Motor Show, running from November 29th to December 7th, will play host to the brand's revival. There, Brabham will reveal a trio of tuned and kitted-out BMWs to kick-start its operations and garner some high-profile public attention.

The three Bavarians in question are the BRABHAM BT 92 based on the M3, the BRABHAM BT 60 based on the M5 and the BT 70 which is based on a BMW X6 SUV. Brabham has opted to keep its cards close to its chest revealing no information on the vehicles beyond the computer rendered image of the M3 you see above (hi-res shot available in the gallery).

Formed by Australian racing legend Jack Brabham and designer Ron Tauranac, Brabham's association with the racing fraternity will hopefully result in vehicles that are not only visually appealing but also tuned and modified for performance.

A relaunch of, what appears to be, a niche brand is a bold move in the current automotive climate. However, given Brabham's 30 years experience in racing developments prior to its collapse, and the cachet in the name, it just might have a fighting chance.
