BMW HAS ANNOUNCED a range of BMW Performance Accessories for the 2010 BMW X6, giving power-hungry buyers a new option before heading into M territory.

Two power kits are available, the X6 xDrive35i gaining a 15kW boost and an extra 50Nm of torque, while the X6 xDrive50i jumps 30kW and 50Nm. With the upgrades, power in the xDrive35i is up from 225kW to 240kW, and the xDrive50i up from 300kW to 330kW.

According to BMW, the Performance Accessories power kits will enable the xDrive35i to cover the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.5 seconds, while the xDrive50i will complete the run in 5.2 seconds. For the xDrive50i, it's a marginal improvement over the regular model's 5.4 seconds, but that much closer to the X6 M's 4.7 second sprint.

Speaking with TMR today, BMW Australia's Tim James said that the X6 BMW Performance Accessories are being considered for Australia.

"They're under consideration for Australia. They'll be shown at Geneva, but in terms of the details for what we'll bring in, we can't say at this point - but the packages are definitely on the radar," Mr James said.

Joining the power kit is an aerodynamic package, including a revised front bumper, side skirts and a faux diffuser for the rear bumper. A rear spoiler can also be optioned, along with matte black rear fins and a gloss black front grid.

High-performance tyres are available for the optional 21-inch alloy wheels, while interior treats include aluminium pedals and a new flat-bottomed alcantara-wrapped sports steering wheel.
