Rumblings from a BMW board member have put the brakes on any hopes Beemer fans may have had of seeing a productionised version of the striking M1 Hommage concept.

Previous remarks from another board member back in May raised the prospect that the edgy mid-engined coupe was bound for the production line, however a more recent statement made by board member Klaus Draeger (head of BMW's EfficientDynamics program) said that despite the positive reactions generated by the M1 Hommage at its launch, BMW has no intention of creating a competitor to Audi's ever-more-successful R8, and will instead direct its resources towards making future BMWs greener.

Oh well, there's always the M6.
