BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Rumoured, M2 4-door On Its Way?

While the BMW 1 Series is destined to morph from a RWD hatch into a FWD sedan/hatch family in the not-too-distant future, it seems fans of compact RWD BMWs may not be limited to the two-door 2 Series coupe and convertible range after all.

A report in UK mag Autocar says BMW is brewing up a four-door version of the 2 Series, which will wear a “Gran Coupe” suffix and offer a more dynamic small sedan alternative to the less performance-focused FWD 1 Series.

The 2 Series Gran Coupe will also allow BMW to participate in the luxury small sedan space, a segment it has ignored while Audi and Mercedes-Benz have enjoyed success with their respective A3 sedan and CLA models.
