Ever have one of those "I told you so" moments? We just did.

At the start of the month we brought you the first four episodes of Bertone's documentary/teaser film for their upcoming Project M showstopper. Based on the limited clues given in those short vids we theorised that the guts of a Corvette ZR-1 lay beneath Bertone's bespoke body.

Turns out we were right.

In the latest instalment in the Project M story, chief designer Jason Castriota reveals the Corvette ZR-1 donor chassis that will be used as a base. Aside from mentioning that the ZR-1's sterling mechanicals will remain untouched, Castriota also says Project M's interior will feature carbon-fibre seats and panels, as well as lightweight Alcantara trimming.

We aren't afforded a decent glimpse at the finished product, but the below image should give you a hint as to how Project M will turn out. From what we see here, we reckon Bertone is onto a winner.

Bertone's Project M will be making its grand debut at the Shanghai auto show next week, so stay tuned.
