Alfa Romeo Australia has this week announced a shake-up to the local MiTo line-up, driven by the arrival of the 2011 Mito Quadrifoglio

With the MiTo Quadrifoglio entering at nearly $3000 less than the previous range-topping MiTo Sport, keen Alfa shoppers can now get into a MiTo for under $30,000 - and with more power under the bonnet than before.

Previously, the range kicked off with the regular MiTo, priced at $31,490 and offering 88kW of power from its four-cylinder 1.4 litre petrol engine.

From this week however, the 114kW MiTo Sport drops the 'Sport' badge and slides across to become the new entry point in the model line-up, its price reduced from $37,490 to $29,990.

“Not only is it now possible to buy a MiTo with a recommended retail price plus on statutory charges and on road costs below $30,000, that car now offers the 114 kW powerplant to produce a unique blend of performance, style and excitement,” Alfa Romeo Australia General Manager, Andrei Zaitzev said.

The features and options of the MiTo formerly-known-as-the-MiTo-Sport remain unchanged, including its 17-inch wheels, sports cloth upholstery, sports instrument cluster and carbon fibre effect dashboard.

The range-topping MiTo Quadrifoglio, announced earlier this month, is powered by a new 125kW MultiAir engine, shooting the little Alfa to 100km/h in 7.5 seconds - compared to 8.0 seconds for the MiTo.

The 2010 Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio is available now, starting at $34,990 (Manufacturer's List Price).
