Audi CEO Talks Q SUV Models, Electric Vehicles And The Emissions Scandal

Audi will expel a fair amount of energy in 2016 dealing with the fallout from last year’s emissions scandal, but the carmaker has left plenty in reserve to further its range.

Company CEO Rupert Stadler has outlined some of Audi’s plans for 2016, including its Q SUV range, electric vehicles and more than €3 billion (AU$4.4 billion) in investment.

Off the back of €58 billion (AU$86 billion) in revenue last year, with an operating profit of more than €4.8 billion (AU$ 7.1 billion), Audi plans to launch more than 20 new or updated models throughout 2016.

The first of these have already emerged both here and overseas, with the local arrival of the all-new A4 and the unveiling of the new Q2 SUV in recent weeks.

For its other SUVs, production for the Q5 will begin at a new plant to be opened in Mexico this year. The Q5 will continue to be built at other Audi facilities, and it is unclear at this stage where Australia’s future supply of Q5s will come from.
