Audi have just released details of two new A5 coupe variants. The sexy coupe is now available with a 2.7 TDI V6 diesel or 3.2 FSI V6 petrol engine. Both engines are combined with Audi’s continuously variable multitronic transmission.

The 2.7 TDI diesel produces 140Kw and 400Nm the majority of which is available between 1,400rpm and 3,250rpm in true diesel fashion. As is becoming the norm for diesels in this day and age the TDI engine will propel the A5 from 0-100km/h in a respectable 7.6 seconds all while sipping the oily stuff at an average rate of 6.7 L/100km which is quite remarkable.

The 3.2 FSI V6 petrol engine churns out an equally remarkable 195Kw and 330Nm. Using Audi’s AVS or Audi Valvelift System which allows variable valve lift control the petrol V6 is able to hussle the A5 from 0-100km/h in 6.6 seconds while achieving average fuel consumption of a very respectable 8.7 L/100km.

Engines just keep getting better and diesel looks more and more like the best option for most drivers. At this stage there is no reason to assume that we won’t see these engine options made available in Australian delivered A5’s.
