ASTON MARTIN declared this week that its upcoming One-77 has clocked a 354.86km/h (220.007mph) run in recent testing, smashing the company's previous best of 328km/h with the Vanquish S.

Earlier this year, Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez suggested speeds greater than 320km/h ought to be achievable.

Scheduled for a 2010 launch, the Aston Martin One-77 is powered by a new 7.3 litre V12 engine developing 522kW and 705Nm of torque. Production, as the supercar's name suggests, is limited to just 77 individually numbered units.

Aston Martin has confirmed that at least one of the ultra-exclusive One-77s will make its way to Australia, with a $200,000 deposit taken from a local buyer ready to hand over the car's $2.03 million price.
