The F1 world has seen a shake up of late, particularly following the bombshell announcement of Honda’s withdrawal from the sport. Better news arrives though, with the announcement of a new team to line up on the grid for the 2010 season.

Full details of the American USF1 team will be officially announced later this month. The new team is to be fronted by racing stalwarts Peter Windsor and Ken Anderson and already has the support of F1 chief executive, Bernie Ecclestone.

Windsor has most recently worked as editor of F1 Racing magazine as well as on other television and print reporting for F1. He has also held positions as General Manager of the Ferrari team and Team Manager for Williams.

Anderson meanwhile has had a strong involvement in Indycar and NASCAR as well as a period as technical director of the Ligier F1 team.

The USF1 team will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina, close to the heart of NASCAR territory, with ‘Made in America’ to be the team slogan. The intent with the new team is to be a showcase for American technology and US-born drivers.
