A little Will Power secures Team Australia Victory

The first Australian ever to win an American Champ Car race is Will Power. Power started the race on pole position and led for the 38 laps of the 68 lap Las Vegas Grand Prix. Power brought his 'Team Australia' Champ car home with a half mile lead.

Power commented after the race that it was a "pretty cruisy race really" and the only real issue he had to contend with was a brake pedal whose travel was getting a little long.

Powers was last years top Rookie and if his win on the temporary track at Las Vegas is anything to go by we have an exciting season ahead of us. The win in Las Vegas was a fitting birthday present for Team Australia's co-owner Derrick Walker who celebrated his birthday on the day of the race.
