Mazda has released two new videos featuring its brand-new Kodo design language.

While one of the videos presents the already-revealed Shinari concept in motion, the second offers what could be the first glimpse at where design boss Ikuo Maeda and his Kodo design language will take the next-generation Mazda3.

Launched in 2008, the current second-generation Mazda3 still has a way to run in its model life. Mazda however said the 3D model shown in this new video is just one look at how the company's new design direction could filter down to its volume-selling models such as the Mazda3 and Mazda2.

"What if the Kodo design concept was to be applied to another Mazda vehicle? One that is a little smaller than the Shinari? In this video you can see what the future of the Mazda2 or Mazda3 may look like under this new design direction," Mazda said.

Design boss Maeda said the ultimate aim of the Kodo language is to convey energetic motion, evoking "emotion and affection" from the viewer - a theme Maeda aims to transfer to Mazda's future production models.

As with the Shinari concept, this potential Mazda3 preview shows that the Kodo language is driven by sharp sweeping lines and futuristic fine details.

Any production version of this design would likely reach for subtler styling cues, but with two views available - the Shinari concept and now this new rendering - it's clear that the Kodo language holds big things for Mazda.
