Peugeot has today revealed a number of sweeing updates to its 308 small-car range, the line-up's first major overhaul since its launch in 2007.

The update brings an extensive styling update to the 308 Hatch, 308 CC convertible and 308 Touring wagon, along with updated powertrains and the addition of a new micro-hybrid e-HDi variant.

Up front, the 308 range gets Peugeot's new and less cheerful face, first previewed by the sporting SR1 concept and the new 508 sedan (due in Australia in July).

There are also new wheel designs across the range, and Peugeot's updated lion emblem features prominently at the front and rear.

Styling updates are less obvious in the cabin, limited to new colour ways and trim choices for seats and dash.

Full details for each variant and engine in the updated 308 line have yet to be revealed, although Peugeot claims it has improved fuel consumption through the use of low rolling-resistance tyres, revised engines and an average loss of 25kg across the range.
