Last month, Nissan revealed (almost) the full monty on its updated-for-2011 GT-R, but one very important figure had eluded the car's fans until now: its 0-100km/h time.

With final testing done and dusted, Nissan has this week confirmed that its tweaked hero car has shaved a good 0.5 seconds off its sprint, giving the new car a time of just 3.0 seconds. (well, 3.046 seconds...)

Completed at Japan's Sendai Race Way, Nissan's tests were completed with a standard '11 GT-R set with its 'R' mode and VDC-R systems activated, riding on the regular showroom tyres and wheels.

The GT-R's new time sees its skip past a number of venerable hero cars in the 3-3.5 second bracket, including the Ferrari Enzo, the Koenigsegg CCXR and the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce. Even Ferrari's brand-new 458 Italia has been shoved aside by Nissan's updated champion.

The 2011 GT-R is powered by a revised version of Nissan's twin-turbo 3.8 litre V6, producing 390kW - compared to the current model's 375kW. Torque takes a leap also, jumping from 588 to 612Nm (between 3200 to 6000rpm).

Pricing has yet to be revealed, although Nissan Australia has confirmed a March 2011 launch date.
