The good gents at Jalopnik have posted this stunning illustration of what might be the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.
The SRT8 is rumoured to be powered by Chrysler?s 373kW+ (500hp+) 6.4 litre HEMI, but Jalopnik reckons it?ll be tuned to put out around 376 to 391kW (505-525hp) and 691Nm (510lb-ft) of torque, all shunted through an updated all-wheel-drive system.
If the illustration is accurate (or for that matter, official), the SRT8 version of the recently revealed 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a subtle but powerful visual step above the donor car.
Massive five-spoke rims ? likely around 22-inch ? fill out the previously capacious wheel wells, sitting in front of sizeable brake discs and calipers.
The front end shows a cold-air-induction scoop recessed into the bonnet with only the slightest bulge to mark its presence from the driver?s perspective, and a sporty re-styled front bumper rests below the stock grille.
The headlights are also slightly re-styled, with the indicator strip running horizontally beneath the driving lights rather than vertically up the outside.
There?s only the one image for now, so we can?t tell you what resides out back, but no doubt it?s every bit as subtly aggressive as the front end. If nothing else, we can at least see a roof-mounted rear lip spoiler.
The only question that remains now is whether Chrysler can stay afloat long enough to bring its X5-rival to market.
