2011 MEGANE CC

Unveiled at Geneva earlier this year, Renault Australia has this week confirmed the upcoming debut of the stylish Megane Coupe-Convertible on November 1, priced from $45,990.

The news follows confirmation by a Renault Australia spokesperson that the company would aim to bring the Coupe-Cabriolet to Australia by year's end.

Developed on the same recipe as its predecessor, the new Megane CC features a folding roof with a full panoramic glass design, along with a fixed glass wind deflector for reduced turbulence and wind-noise.

Thanks to a fully-automatic, electro-hydraulic opening mechanism, the two-part roof can be stowed or deployed in a mere 21 seconds.

While storage with the roof up is 415 litres with the roof up, stowing the roof halves storage to a still-respectable 212 litres.

As with the Megane Hatch and the Fluence sedan, the Megane CC is powered by a 2.0 litre four-cylinder 16V petrol engine, delivering 103KW and maximum torque of 195Nm.

The sleek convertible will be available with both a six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed Efficient Dual-Clutch automatic transmission.

While not an especially powerful offering, Renault says the new Megane CC is 80 percent stiffer than its predecessor, promising greater handling.

Features of the Megane CC include hands-free starting via a RFID-enabled personal card, automatic park brake, and bi-xenon headlights.

Pricing

The new 2011 Megane Coupe-Cabriolet will be available in Australia from November 1, priced from $45,990.
