2011 MITSUBISHI LANCER
Mitsubishi Australia has announced availability of the updated-for-2011 Mitsubishi Lancer, bringing a series of updates and a new variant in the form of the Lancer SX.
The entire Lancer range benefits from an updated brake assist system and an improved power-window safety system. All variants also get improved sound insulation, along with USB connectivity and a colour LCD display.
VR, VRX and Ralliart models offer Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. All variants fitted with Mitsubishi's MMCS display system are offered with iPod connection cables.
Sitting between the entry-level ES and the popular Lancer VR, the SX adds a leather steering wheel with mounted audio controls, along with a rear spoiler and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Powertrains remain unchanged, with the Lancer SX, ES and VR featuring the 2.0 litre dual overhead cam MIVEC four-cylinder engine, producing 113kW and 198Nm of torque.
VRX variants and the Aspire sedan receive the 2.4 litre engine, developing 125kW and 226Nm of torque.
Lancer Ralliart variants feature the Lancer Evolution’s inter-cooled and turbo-charged 2.0-litre MIVEC engine, unchanged from the previous model, which delivers 177kW and 343Nm of torque.
Safety features for the Lancer range include ASTC (which regulates brake force and drive torque on individual wheels), ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution and Brake Assist.
All Lancer variants feature seven airbags as standard, contributing to the medium car's ANCAP 5-Star crash safety rating.
The 2011 Lancer is covered by a five-year/130,000km whole vehicle warranty and a 10-year/160,000km powertrain warranty, along with a five-year unlimited kilometre roadside assistance package.
