Lexus Australia has announced a number of updates to its RX SUV range, including the addition of an upgraded pre-collision safety system and a revised interior trim.
Replacing the earlier Pre-Collision Safety system (PCS), Lexus' new Advanced Pre-Collision Safety System uses a wave-based radar the monitor the road ahead for a potential collision.
If the Advanced PCS determines that a frontal collision is unavoidable, it will pretension seatbelts, prime the vehicle's brakes and provide an audible warning.
If the driver still does not take action, the Advanced PCS will provide an audible warning and begin applying the brakes.
On the comfort front, the updated 2011 Lexus RX features an upgraded audio and navigation system offering USB and iPod connectivity, along with Lexus' Remote Touch Screen system.
Functions for iPod connectivity include the display and control of content via the inbuilt dash-mounted navigation screen. All RX grades will also receive a 12V power outlet below the centre console.
