The second-generation Lexus IS has come in for its third and likely last update, with a number of minor cosmetic changes for 2011 that should see it through to the arrival of the next all-new IS.

Following a trio of leaked brochure images that surfaced online in June, Lexus has today revealed new images and details ahead of the updated model's Paris debut in late September.

Speaking with TMR today, Toyota Australia's Mike Breen confirmed that the updated Lexus IS range will arrive in Australia in November (likely alongside the IS 350, although Mr Breen was tight-lipped on details).

Externally, the most noticeable change comes in the form of the Audi-like LED strip along the bottom of each headlight. There are also subtle revisions to the taillight lenses and a lightly-updated grille.

Depending on the specification, the updated IS range also features an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, rain-sensing wipers and heated front seats with a new leather trim package.

Power and performance figures remain unchanged for the IS range, although the 2.5 litre V6 petrol engine has been upgraded to meet Europe's upcoming Euro V emissions regulations. As a result, fuel consumption has dropped from 9.1 l/100km to 8.4 l/100km.

Entering alongside the regular IS 250 is the updated F Sport variant, featuring not only the revised headlights, but also a restyled front bumper and a new rear spoiler with an integrated third brake light. New 18-inch alloy wheels join the F-Sport catalogue, and the interior gets new 'titanium-effect' highlights and an anthracite-coloured headlining.

Depending on how soon the updated IS hits the market, this will likely be one version of the IS 350 scheduled to debut in Australia at the end of this year.

It's unclear if the interior will see a similar update, but tweaks to the available trim materials and colours are likely.

Debuting in 2006, the current IS platform will be due for replacement in the next couple of years, but there has yet to be any evidence of a new model in development.
