Another world-first debut has occurred at the Australian International Motor Show today, with the unveiling of the 2011 Lexus CT 200h F Sport.

Although power figures are expected to remain unchanged, the CT 200h F Sport benefits from unique sports suspension, front and rear styling tweaks, alloy wheels and F Sport badging.

Lexus' hero 'Flame Blue' colour will also be available with the CT 200h F Sport.

In the cabin, the CT 200h F Sport will get its own unique trim, including an F Sport steering wheel, sports pedals, scuff plates, instrument panel and privacy glass.

CT 200h F Sport models will also feature Lexus' special body performance damper, designed to improve ride and handling.

The damping technology is designed to increase torsional rigidity, suppressing vibrations and contributing to ride comfort without, Lexus says, the penalty of significant extra weight.

The lateral dampers, installed front and rear, form part of an engineering package that also includes strategic strengthening and carefully-gauged welding quality throughout the vehicle.

While specific output figures have not been revealed, the CT 200h F Sport is powered by the same hybrid system as the regular CT 200h: a 1.8 litre VVT-i four-cylinder petrol engine combined with a rear-mounted electric-drive motor/generator.

Power is sent to the front wheels via an electrically-controlled continuously variable transmission (E-CVT).

The electric motor draws its power from a nickel-metal hydride battery pack, and like the Prius, the hybrid hatch can be driven in all-electric mode.

Three driving modes are available: Eco, Normal and Sport - allowing the CT 200h to live up to its sporty styling.
