The overhaul of Chrysler Group's line-up continues today with the US-market launch of the 2011 Jeep Liberty, sold in Australia as the Jeep Cherokee.

Chrysler's latest new model follows the launch yesterday of the updated Jeep Patriot and Chrysler Grand Voyager, along with teaser images of the upcoming Chrysler 200.

While the 2011MY updates to the Patriot and Grand Voyager have been relatively significant, tweaks to the 2011 Jeep Cherokee are a little more limited.

Updates for the 2011 Cherokee include a re-styled steering wheel with mounted controls for the audio system. It also comes with a new in-cluster display, cruise control and a Uconnect hands-free phone system.

There are also three new infotainment packages. The first (and each) package includes an AM/FM/CD/DVD/MP3 entertainment system, along with a 6.5-inch touch screen and a 30gb hard drive.

The second package adds a Garmin navigation system, while the third package is likely to be a US-only option, adding the Uconnect navigation system and Sirius traffic and travel services.

New colours have been added to the palette, including Bronze Star, Blackberry Pearl, Bright White Clear and Deep Cherry Red Chrystal Pearl.

Mechanically, the Cherokee remains unchanged for 2011, missing out on Chrysler's new Pentastar V6 family engine. Power is therefore drawn from the same 3.7 litre petrol V6 as before, producing 151kW and 315Nm of torque.

Australia

An Australian debut has yet to be confirmed for the 2011 Cherokee, although it is likely to arrive around the same time as the updated Patriot and Grand Voyager in early 2011.
