Dodge has today revealed the updated-for-2011 Dodge Journey, featuring the latest version of the company's 'crosshair' grille and badging that replaced the ram's head earlier this year.

Externally, the 2011 Journey's updates are limited almost entirely to the new crosshair and honeycomb grille, along with subtly revised bumpers and updated LED taillights (although no rear photos have been released). New 19-inch wheels have also been added to the Journey's options list.

While the outside might offer little to set it apart from the outgoing model, the cabin of the updated Journey is a different story. With a completely redesigned dash, steering wheel and seats, Dodge also promises a significantly higher-quality feel to the 2011 model's interior materials.

Among the new interior appointments, the Journey gets a stylish three-spoke steering wheel with audio and cruise controls and - as an optional extra - Chrysler's UConnect Touch media centre. There's also six new interior colourways and trim options to choose from.

Far from a mere styling update however, the 2011 Journey is powered by the Chrysler Group's new family engine, the 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine producing 210kW and 350Nm of torque.

Revised steering and suspension geometry round out the mechanical updates for the tweaked Journey, along with reduced noise, vibration and harshness thanks to higher-quality sound-deadening materials.

The international debut of the 2011 Dodge Journey update comes as part of a Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge overhaul that has so far included the new Jeep Patriot and Chrysler Grand Voyager, 2011 Cherokee and the upcoming 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Australian Pricing and Availability

An official launch date for the updated Journey has yet to be confirmed for Australia. Speaking with TMR today, Chrysler Australia's Dean Bonthorne pointed to a "2012 model year" debut.

The current-generation 2010 Journey was last updated in March this year, bringing new standard convenience and safety features.
