2011 BMW 5 Series Teased: Video

BMW IS just under a fortnight away from revealing its all-new 5 Series sedan to the world, and has released this short teaser video as an appetiser before the big event.

November 23 has been announced as the official unveil date, and it's likely the new 5 Series will make its first live appearance at December's LA Auto Show.

The teaser video only provides a vague hint of the car's silhouette, but the short rear deck and relatively long nose that we've seen in previous spy photos and renderings are in clear evidence. Check out the short teaser vid after the jump.

Wheelbase and track width are expected to grow, while front overhang will shrink. The new 5 Series will likely be lower too, although kerb weight isn't expected to increase thanks to more extensive use of lightweight materials such as aluminium and plastic composites.

Engine choices will be similar to what is already offered on the current 5 Series, however the twin-turbocharged V8 from the X6 and 7 Series may also get shoehorned into its engine bay. A hybrid powertrain is also rumoured.
