BMW Australia has released the optional M Sport Package for the 5 Series, which is available for order on all models in the line-up.

Although the next-generation 2011 M5 is still some distance from the showroom floor, BMW enthusiasts may be satisfied in the short term with the new M Sport package for the 2010 BMW 5 Series Sedan and Touring.

Bringing enhancements both in styling and handling, the 5 Series M Sport package features upgraded suspension, 18-inch M light alloy wheels and the tougher-looking M aerodynamics package. Larger 19-inch wheels feature on the M Sport options list (they're standard on the range-topping 550i M Sport), along with a rear spoiler.

Sports Leather seats feature inside, along with a host of other 'M'-badged items, including a footrest, three-spoke leather sports steering-wheel and gear-selector knob. There's also anthracite-coloured roof lining and 'M'-specific aluminium highlights. The 550i M Sport gets Comfort Leather seats and high-gloss dark brown wood trim as standard.

The M Sport Package is now available for order on all 5 Series sedan and Touring variants, with pricing as follows:

BMW 520d: $7,900
BMW 528i: $6,100
BMW 535i: $4,900
BMW 535d: $4,900
BMW 550i: $4,900

Local deliveries of M Sport-equipped cars are expected to begin in November.
