Spilling the beans on little else, Audi has this week revealed that it will unveil the 2011 Audi S1 at Paris this month.

Entering as Audi's equivalent to the Volkswagen Polo GTI and likely to utilise the same 1.4 litre TSI engine, the S1 will stand as the flagship model in the A1 range - unless Audi adds an RS variant in the future, that is.

In the Polo GTI, the turbo- and super-charged 1.4 litre TSI petrol engine delivers 132kW and a respectable 250Nm of torque, online between 2000 and 4500rpm. Fuel consumption is listed at 5.9 l/100km, and carbon emissions are listed at 139g/km.

On the styling front, the S1 is likely to feature front and rear bumper tweaks with a sportier feel, inspired by the likes of the recently-revealed S-Line options package.

Audi has revealed nothing else of the S1's technical details or performance figures, although it is already known that the Germany luxury carmaker has already ruled out the use of its quattro all-wheel-drive system, thanks to weight concerns.

The full details on the 2011 Audi S1 will be revealed at the Paris Auto Show later this month. Audi Australia has yet to reveal a local launch date for the A1, although a debut at next month's Australian International Motor Show is likely.
